FIFTY YEARS AGO

My girlfriend said,
"We are too serious!"
She couldn't concentrate on school
We should see others
The fabulous Wailers were in town.
"Louie Louie"--originals before Kingsman
They were coming to do a concert
She had a girlfriend who knew a band member
They needed a date
So they she was a groupee
Next day they were gone
Number one groupee was forgotten
Smiled at me and I waved goodbye
Last night an oldies concert
I went with my wife of forty nine years.
To see the Wailers play
I kinda liked them too
Used to watch them at the Spanish castle
Thanked them for opening my eyes
Hoped she liked the concert.
Not a tear in my eye
