WHEN I WAS A SUPERWOMAN
It used to be no problem
To ride my 18 speed touring bike
On Highway 11 about 25 miles
Every single day
It gave me a power
I cannot describe
Only a bicyclist
Can tell you maybe
Not me today.
It used to be no problem
To have two I.V's on
Two separate wards
In patients that might
Pull them out
In their confusion
And still manage the care
Of the other 78 clients
And 35 staff.
It used to be no problem
To have a place for every thing
And everything in it's place
Wearing perfectly matched
Face, clothes, shoes
Driving a new car
Being so serious
Miss Perfect.
It used to be no problem
To go up to a person
Smile a big smile
Not start bawling
Walk the walk
Of the talk that's talked
And that is not today.
It could come back somehow, someday, not now.
