Beneath Purple, Orange and Blue
Hard at work, right next to you
Sat someone who would care to
Become involved, changing bad news
Concerned for friend with son in need
She'd spread the word, a family's plea
To help their cause taking this fight
Upon herself, a mercy flight
Making rounds, she'd build upon
A platforms search where more than one
Would step up to the plate and hit
A homerun for a special kid
Raffle was drawn to raise attention
Donations poured, as news would mention
Plight of one much needed press
Where children warrant much more no less
Support poured in for Hunter's cause
A child now lives and all because
Rachael became an Angel to
Angel to one she helped see through
Today there now are Eighty-seven
Angels on Earth all blessed by Heaven
Where registered are names theirs scribed
Promised Bone marrow, saving more lives
Dedicated to Rachael Krueger
Rachael Krueger is a Dispatcher at FedEX. Rachael learned about one of her couriers, John Kalahar, who worked at the MVN station in Mount Vernon, IL, had a son, Hunter, who was diagnosed with cancer and was in need of a bone marrow transplant. She wanted to do something to help, so she organized a bone marrow search in her community.
Rachael contacted several businesses in the area and requested a donation of items she could raffle off to individuals who signed up to see if they would be a match for a bone marrow transplant. She also contacted members of the local media to generate attention and support for Hunter's drive.
Rachael's efforts helped get 87 people added to the Bone Marrow Donor Registry and as a result, Hunter received his bone marrow transplant and was released from the hospital a few weeks later!
We all wish John and Hunter a very Happy and Healthy New Year!
