The armored knight was a child of the earth, and the dragon, a tenant of the air,
Would it be that the two should meet, a friendship formed so rare.
The dragon once alight on ground, became a maiden fair,
With flowing arms where once were wings, with sun kissed flaxen hair.
They danced upon an elfin grave, one unturned mossy stone.
They vowed to never walk apart, to wander not alone.
"Oh fatuous knight of all I've found, that claim to favor me,
Would you lift me into the air, that I might again soar free."
Beneath the slowly spreading oaks, the knight was seen to cry.
As he took the maiden by the hand, she vaulted towards the sky.
Once again the dragon flew, with the knight still held in tow.
His armor dropped back to the ground, then the dragon let him go.
But the knight surprised, refused to fall, his arms turned into wings.
Together they were born on air, as one true love would bring.
Their love would soar, as high as they, as mortals never found.
Child of the earth, and tenant of the air, in love forever bound.
