Slipping away

Patience eludes me,
my doubts grow ever greater
all good reason keeps drifting away
while fires keep on burning
though no one is really looking
they're all searching for something to say.

God keeps on asking…?
as religion builds another castle
while young ones die ever younger every day
as wars rage all around them
their blood falls amid the rain drops
only death relieves the weak from their pain.

I beg of my mind…
though all feels lost in translation,
for no answers appear to be clear
and the more that I search
the more that I stumble
till the hope that I knew disappears.

So much to live for…
so much still to wonder
but how the sunlight now burns deep in my eyes
my dreams feel much darker
love somewhere just a memory
and the fire deep inside slowly dies.

Somewhere a rainbow…
of this I am certain
but my eyes still unable to see
maybe one day come an angel
sit down close besides me
to point out the truth that's to be.

Confusion my true partner…
chaos always present
laughter still brings happiness everyday
but the light is slowly fading
now only embers are all that's burning
as all that I am slips away.
