Fortress
The Lord is my rock and Savior,
A fortress that I can savor;
A rock that is also my shield,
A refuge from the battlefield.
A refuge to give me the strength,
To persevere at any length;
My stronghold that is fortified,
That will keep me from the backslide.
The strength of salvation and hope,
That my faith is needing to cope;
With the violence of my foes,
Attempting to cause me some woes.
For the Lord should always be praised,
Because of Him I have been saved;
From the torrents of destruction,
By temptations of seduction.
I am not with abated breath,
While in the clutches of death;
Where ropes of the grave are like snares,
To harness as Satan declares.
But I call God in my distress,
For to escape through His egress;
Since I know He can hear my voice,
With His salvation I will rejoice.
