Newborns
Poems are like children
Born onto blank pages
They grow and thrive
With attention and care
Unique creations every one
A few grow up to be
Serious and opinionated
Others playful and open
Some are yearning and deep
Unique creations every one
Often poems are free
Romping and skipping
With no clear direction
Yet beautiful in their abandon
Unique creations every one
There are some poems
That wear clothing
Strict binding apparel
Or flowing robes of form
Unique creations every one
All poems have voices
Each speaks inside us
Touches the soul's core
Or just makes us smile
Unique creations every one
