When the heart feels drained of all feelings
Those feelings weaken for all that is cherished
Dry like powder caught up in a stale and stagnant breeze
Powder falls down and outward over all things tender
When all that contains heartfelt emotions is driven away
All that remains is shadowed figure's of what once was
The heart is expected to control a whirlwind of emotions
Now weakened from the loss of yest-er-years fragmentation's
Many times the heart has skipped a beat over shock or stall
Like a game of childhood joys, toss the pebble it's your turn
Hop-Scotch playtime favorite, chalk drawn squares
The heart surrounded by impediments, pebble lands on the line
The soul is empty and totally drained of concern, why bother?
A sinking to the depths of five hundred miles on a broken wing
Washes away all hopes and desires of giving a d@mn
Trying to stop the teardrops from what seems to be a storm
Can only blind the eyes with uncertainty of what needs to go
Close the eyes to the shadows on the floor of what was
Memories gather a cover of dust waiting somewhere for spring
The day will come when a freshness is in the motion of air
The heart will find that rhythm of what once was
A rebirth of emotions that tie the gathering of feelings
Once again the heart regains the strength to skip to another beat
You again feel the emotions you cherished, the powder is gone.
