Powerful Words
A stubborn fool just thinks his way,
As being right but goes astray;
For the fool is right in his eyes,
And never listens to the wise.
But one who listens to advice,
The devil can never entice;
For he knows between right from wrong,
And just where the righteous belong.
When a stubborn fool is annoyed,
Loathsome words he will not avoid;
He lets his vexation be known,
As anger and rage will be shown.
But a righteous person hides,
Since within the Lord he abides;
With concealing insult and shame,
Turns the other cheek to proclaim.
A righteous person speaks the truth,
And never lies nor is uncouth;
For honesty speaks from the word,
That Scripture states the he has heard.
But a false witness is deceit,
That changes story to repeat;
Since he cheats and is full of lies,
Never considered being wise.
Careless words can stab like a sword,
And are not spoken by the Lord;
Since he always seeks to disguise,
Unlike healing words from the wise.
