 All Of Everything

In my mind I clearly see her smiling reflection
It's so hard now to believe she ever smiled at me
Those deep blue eyes so close to perfection
As they danced like waves splashing from the sea....

Was it so long ago, so far away or was it yesterday?
In my mind's eye, clearly I see her blue eyes smiling
When we would laugh and play on a sunshine day,
And those deep blue eyes so alluring, so beguiling....

But love poems are written by the dozens, so I won't bore you
With platitudes about her, and her audacious attitudes
You've had enough holy references placed before you
As if the writers were reading from the beatitudes...

And how many times have you seen 'I miss you'
Thrown upon the page as if it were a clever thing to say
To be rhymed with the inevitable 'when I kiss you'
With your heart beating like a tennis ball in match-play....

So I will spare you from any further doting words
Let me simply leave you with this: 'she was my friend'
I will avoid the category of all the 'emoting absurds'
But I will not refrain from loving her until the end....
