IT WAS A STRANGE THING THAT NIGHT WHEN MY SISTER DIED.
APACHE BROKE THE DOOR DOWN TO HIS STALL THAT VERY SAME
NIGHT. THREE DAYS LATER ON HER BURIAL DAY, APACHE JUST
LAID DOWN IN HIS STALL AND DIED AS WELL. LOVE IS A DEEP
EMOTION.
APACHE FIREFLY
This Appaloosa runs mighty and proud for all the Gods to see
Decades upon decades roaming free from sea to shinning seas
Thunderous hooves beat out a strong rhythm upon the land
The True People honored the horse, together forging this land
From colt to the mightiest of studs, you are dignity and grace
Your ancestor Pegasus lives amongst the stars, easily traced
There is much wisdom contained in your strenght and heart
Majestically you prance across the plains from morn to dark
Your like the firefly that glows and sparkles amazingly at night
The People once numbered equaled you, as far as the eyes sight
Thundering drums beat a rhythm like the hooves of the horse
I named you Apache Firefly, the People who sparkle with force
We sing a thousand tears for the regal Appaloosa once strong
Thousands strong once we were, all was taken, that is wrong
Women dance, for the hunt need be plentiful and all return safe
Our children are told stories of the old ways, I hope not to late
Adorned in feathers and paint, stories told in song and dance
Painted pony, blanket across hi back with brave and lance
Gone are the thousands of horses that ran free under the sky
Apache Firefly, an Appaloosa horse remembered in love, has died.
