Here I sit staring at life in a purely digital way.
How things have changed from the days of testosterone and glory.
Flaccid ambitions have led the romance in my relations astray,
Leaving streaks down my cheeks from all too familiar stories.
Did you think me too tired to rise to the occasion?
There was no time to brush the rust from my blade.
It seems like only yesterday that I put it back into its scabbard.
Now the sound of its withdrawal makes me afraid.
What daydreams interrupt my revelries?
The peace was blissful, no conflicts, excitement or strife.
I succumb once more to that land of nod.
But for you, dear, my body once again armor shall adorn.
Music of the field shall once again guide the spear of life.
To your defense I ride, a now lumbering Lancelot.
I am not quite so pure of heart or glowing with virtue.
The emergence of distant sounds befuddles me.
In that twilight between dawns when vision fogs over
I ride with reckless abandon straight to the precipice edge.
Over I plummet as the shock of my demise jolts me.
My thoughts are all distorted with time and age.
The intensity of battle engorges my mind,
Leaving no room to contain my rage.
But my recliner rocks and my napping moods temper.
My eyes slowly open once again to gaze upon a digital world.
