There is one who shows mercy to all
Christ, the Almighty Savior
WE ARE THE FIRST AMERICANS
God, taught love and mercy for all his people
When it came to the American Indian
Not a nary Redman would walk upon this land today
That belonged to the "Native American Indian" from the start.
The White Man seen fit to wage war
Their campaign to annihilate the Indian from the face of the Earth,
They murdered, raped our women and slaughtered the children.
Nearly succeeding in eradicating an entire Indian Nation
Now that Father-time has added on the years
Tribe after tribe call out to our Forefathers and to the Great Spirit
That the time is here to gather as one nation and one people
To raise our voices, that we are the first Americans.
Hear loud and clear the Sioux, Apache, Cheyenne and the Cherokee,
Listen to the Blackfoot, the Arapaho, the Lakota, Crow and many others.
It's OK to wave your colors of freedom and sing of Old Glory
March in your parades; shoot your fireworks across a black background
You need remember, "Wounded Knee"!
Say a prayer for the children of a once great and mighty People
A glorious Nation that spanned from sea to sea
"We Pledge Allegiance to the Flag" after all,
"We Are the First Americans"!
