When we depart and are no more
Life a cycle of twists and turns
A long road tr-eked of things learned
Where highs and lows became of pace
And smooth pearl skin now wrinkled face
It's fill of hellos many goodbyes
Moments treasured and countless sighs
Held within library of thoughts
Unwritten chapters eyes have caught
Shortness of breath that love provoked
That flamed desires fired soul stoked
A young heart then today more stone
Loss of your mate, now you alone
Wishing to do what can't be done
To live once more now lost once won
Where sunsets cause another day
Bringing closer to end what played
We start as fetus and grow to size
Adult our nature but child inside
Still holds to things precious as Gold
As hair turns silver and too comes old
and as we draw closer to wise
Questions not asked begin to rise
What really lies beyond the door
When we depart and are no more
