Nineteen I did not have a car
Or the means to get one
Off we go into the wild blue yonder
The last place for a man
Who throws up at the sight of blood
Yes, they put me into the medical corps
Not only that Emergency room corpsman
This is about learning to drive
Ambulances were racing out the front gate
Our bus was stopped coming in,
"Any MP or medical passengers aboard?"
A hayride truck with 48 kids struck from behind
Kids and hay were all over the roadway
All the ambulance drivers were on the way
We have one emergency off road sixteen shift
You guess it--"Corpsman get to the accident!"
I didn't even know how to start the contraption,
"I don't have a drivers license, Sir!"
"You don't need one you're in the Air Force son."
Somehow I got it into second of sixteen gears
Lights flashing cars getting out of my way
Then wishing they had not moved over
I brought back eleven of the least injured
Farmers kid with a broken arm taking me through shifts
First job out of the service was servicing Greyhound buses
No one checked to see if I had a license
I was driving Sceni-cruisers before a car
You can find the first time flying a jet
plane, In the post written about Pilot down
It was time to get a car and a license to drive.
