The Sitter
If we could somehow tabulate the amount of time and attention
That some of us spent unproductively before the television
Then saying that this is being used as a form of relaxation
But during the process feel asleep, in the program's duration.
Many times people are quite willing to use this medium
As a substitute parent to look after their children
It never seems some how, to let it focus in the mind
That its getting in the way of their quality time.
Don't use that guise, that you are a single parent
And on the television's help you are now so dependent
Also the pressure of two jobs, make it difficult to cope
So there is only that solace in resorting to the remote.
And this has made you so very tired to properly montitor
The types of programs being viewed by the youngster
Then later hearing or seeing the effects, want to pull the hair
When you are privy to the espressions, that reach you ear.
The intent is not to knock the use of a television
There are some very wonderful programs for children
But also remember an inqusitive mind is very capable
Of exploring the offerings of the other channels on the cable.
Sometimes it may not quite work out,or to be that much better
When you try to employ someone to work as a sitter
This person may spent time on the phone in a conversation
Thereby placing the child once again, before the television.
