She hides in a room
Knowing he'll be home soon
She walks on eggshells through each day
Secrets of his abuse she keeps hidden away
My sister of which one soul we share
as I look at you I see my reflection.
An embrace we have never felt
but we are of the same creation
She knew it best not to tell anyone
She still hears the shots from his gun
She shakes when she sees a gun on T.V.
She thinks oh no he going to shoot me
For so long we held this secret of ours
not allowing our pain to have voice
The nightmares for years oh how did linger
the hopelessness of not feeling a choice
When she lived her life by the edge of a knife
Her mind goes back to being an abused wife
Flashbacks of abuse getting knocked to the floor
To all abuse she now closes the door
To be taken down to our knees and beyond
is the game the abuser does play
But he will have to answer to God for his sins
and his debt he will have to pay
With a man's raised hand she gets shaky inside
Today no more abused secrets does she hide
An abused wife with P.T.S.D. and anxiety attacks too
If you're going through abuse don't let this happen to you
The lasting effects to our grave we will carry
but each day brings hope of a better tomorrow
We hold our heads high with each new dawn
leaving in yesterday our pain and sorrow
Prayers of please don't let abuse go on
Jesus above can help you to be strong
Get away from abuse you must be brave
Before he puts you in an early grave.
So learn from what we had to endure
and know it just does not go away
Your safety and freedom of abuse
on bended knee we pray.
