 The Candle Flickers
Writing this poem as I wait for you;
The room is lit only by a single candle.
Pen in hand, I scribble out my emotions;
With every noise, I look to the door.
Too many nights separated anymore;
Work and other obligations interfere.
There is a soft noise over near the door;
I smile big and look up, it is only the cat.
Feeling my love bubbling within every cell ;
I'm about to burst open with heated passion.
Listening for your car coming up the hill;
Only silence greets my ears, only silence.
Shadows romantically dance around the room;
The candle is burning, so is my heart.
My heart flutters as I hear a car coming;
But it passes into the darkness, I sit alone.
Time passes slowly, my breath slows as well;
My thoughts goes to our tropical memories.
Another car coming, it stops; my heart quickens;
Full of joy as the door opens; the candle flickers.
