 My today's thoughts

A Delight To See

Our magical tree in my father's orchard grew
In the spring its leaves were full of beautiful brilliant hues

I often questioned why its leaves brought us so much pleasure
He told us he had planted it for us as a special treasure

It was there for no other reason
than for us to look at and enjoy its beauty in every season

As children we had tea parties with its colorful leaves showering down
Serving make believe tea and cookies in our make believe ball gowns

Though the summer the leaves on our special tree
stayed vibrant in the hot breeze

We played in the shade it offered from the heat
running through the water sprinklers in our bare feet

The last time I saw our special tree
we had lemonade and cookies there using it as a lee

Its branches were still sturdy and strong
Its leaves brilliants and true swaying with the wind's song

I am grown up now - to those years I often look back
I recall those colorful leaves raked together in large stacks

For those days of yesteryear I sometime long
But as a writer once said "you can't go home again"

Was the tree magical as we believed
Did we as children see only the dreams we weaved

As a fine piece of art
I stored the colors of our magical tree in my mind and heart
