Running Straight Forward
I tell you something that is true,
About things that once held value;
But now they have been sacrificed,
Since they are just worthless for Christ.
I threw all of those things away,
Because they had caused me to stray;
So I could be able to gain,
Jesus Christ within His domain.
But it goes much further than that,
In my heart is His habitat;
And will not let it be ignored,
With knowing Jesus as my Lord.
It is because of Him I think,
About salvation as my drink;
And since I am keeping Him first,
Jesus has been quenching my thirst.
So now I do not feel so grim,
For my relationship with Him;
Has given me of what I lack,
And putting me on the right track.
For through faith in Christ God approves,
To reflect on this it behooves;
Him to bless me as His child,
Since I no longer run wild.
So I forget the things behind,
That no longer clog up my mind;
Since God has gone and made me wise,
In reaching forward for the prize.
