The fact that child abuse is against the law in every state is simply not enough to stop this
growing epidemic. Everyone must play a role if we are to change these tragic national
statistics:
•EACH DAY in the United States, five children die of abuse or neglect in the home.
•Approximately 3.3 million reports of abuse are made each year.
•The actual incidence of abuse and neglect is estimated to be three times greater than the
number reported to authorities.
