A POET'S GARDEN

AN OBNOXIOUS BARD

There is a meadow by the sea
 touched by sunlight shining free

The air heavy with dreams captured by an obnoxious bard
Who was only happy with poems of sadness and despair

A jolly elf lived near the waterfall
during the day when the birds come out to play

The elf wrote happy sonnets full of love's joy and beauty
only to have them taken away for the  bard's booty

Oh what to do with the bard he mused
If only he could help him without his pride being bruised

He recalled a friend of his - a maiden fair
with golden strands in her long curly hair

≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈

she was what the bard needed
Her help he pleaded

Of course she would help she replied
When they were introduced the bard became tongue tied

≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈

No longer could he quote sonnets of doom and gloom
Now his poetry lines flowed with love in bloom

The obnoxious bard and his lady fair
with the help of the jolly elf now enjoyed marriage's love flair

"How do I love thee let me count the ways"
He repeats over and over for all of his days
