 Love Them Today

Before his eyes now frail and old, before words spoken he failed to show
More of himself, to her he loves, where fact now grave was spoken of
She called and asked for him to come, for news she had and then some
Deep need to see family and son, her need to say of what's to come
Bone cancer she'd say to him, her boy, dear son she would fill in
To let him know that time is short, time once both theirs, death now courts
Her, mother through thick and thin, his matriarch, free from all sin
Baring the worst of news he'd hear, as wife stood by in shock and tears
Strength became now weak at knees, prayers silent, broken heart pleas
Went out from him, this man once child, regrets many, in thoughts compiled
Here today he would turn to, Father, Abba who makes all things new
To comfort her and him this day, to grant more time lost yesterdays
And with this thought driven by nails, he would impart to all who fail
To spend more time while time is here, love them today, each you hold dear
Though I too know well of this fear, I took a page spoken I'd hear
The voice of GOD who knows all things
