Despite Past Sin
You did not bring God a sheep,
For an offering to reap;
Nor another sacrifice,
For pleasing that would suffice.
God never did burden you,
For grain offerings that grew;
Nor requiring incense,
In burning for your offense.
You did not buy sugar cane,
For God to sweeten your pain;
But you load God with your sin,
And troubles that are within.
For God alone is the one,
That had sent His only Son;
To wipe away for His sake,
The transgressions that you make.
So He remembers no more,
Those temptations that did lure;
Causing such iniquities,
And the immortalities.
When you see Christ face to face,
He will then argue your case;
Tell the Father it is right,
Give you favor in His sight.
So if you will just proclaim,
All of your love in His name;
As well as obey and trust,
God will be faithful and just.
