Wombat's wager _
The wombat and the kangaroo
lived down near Trinity Bay
Perrottas was their meeting place
they both had lots to say
Kalamari caesar salad was
the special treat this day.
"Perrottas is a splendid place
open aired and friendly"
mused old wombat through slurps of milk
meant for his cup of tea.
"Yes I agree," said kangaroo
"A pity it's not free."
They carried on with idle chat
to pass the time of day
until it came their time to go
and someone had to pay.
"I'll tell you what," the wombat said
"I'll toss you for today."
"Ok heads I win, tails you lose"
he then was heard to say
expecting poor old kangaroo
to lose his mind and pay.
A simple trick to see him treat
deception seemed ok.
"I wish I could oblige you mate
" the kangaroo replied.
"The day is young, our friendship old
yet something here I've spied.
Your trust is always stolen when
deceit won't say goodbye."
"I say, I say," wombat shot back
"What can I say to you
a joke was only on my mind
you witless silly fool.
I could have shown you more respect
an easy thing to do
if humour's sense could find a home
when rooms are far too few."
"You're past it sport, you've done it now
" the kangaroo replied.
"Your play on words are sissy fits
tricked up disguised as lies.
I wish you a good day," he said
as tears welled in his eyes.
The moral of this story found
somewhere inside this verse
is really so well hidden it
would seem both tied for first
until the layers are unwrapped
for light to free the curse.
A curse you say, which right of way
decides who's right or wrong.
The verse confirms it's now whose turn
to see where might belongs.
A witness to mankind's demise
where judgment sings it's song.
Still your mind so you can find where
judgment finds it's home.
Depending on your point of view
beliefs define your zone.
To what degree you are set free
will see who points the bone.
