 "A Study in Scarlet" wings2fly2heaven
The title of Conan-Doyle's "A Study in Scarlet" sounded interesting to me, SO.....here's a poem that's a bit different from my original style, yet it was fun to write : )

Preface
"There's the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it."  ~ Quote from 'A Study in Scarlet' ~

Remnants of interest yet appear,

Eighteen eighty seven the year.

A repeated theme at twenty seven,

Dictated perfectly by original canon.

Tool of an investigator will magnify,

Herein contained his reasons why.

Incorporating fiction as never before,

Study in Scarlet, pre-empts sign of four.

Tapestry woven abroad the decree,

Over letters and lines words beckon thee,

Unravel carefully one bloody thread,

Nay you feel what's lost surely dead.

Dare thee Holmes employ your novel view?

Even amongst peers you still hide the truth.

Rant and rave within your compromised mind,

Study the colour... it's murder you'll find!

Take every clue examine what's there,

Another story for which to compare.

Needless to say 'tis perception we read.

Duly announced true colours will bleed.
