the ingredients of what made a day, a day
is the recipe of a poem
so today's includes,
being pulled over for the ninth time in
three years and not yet receiving a single ticket

the stress of an expired sticker,
an expired home address on a license
the lack of proof of an active (and expensive) insurance policy,
and the need for new tires, new break pads and an oil change
is making things very stressful
(not to mention, a double car payment due in two weeks,
and zero money in the account)

but this is today, may twelfth, two-thousand eleven
and this is what makes today my day in particular
and even though, I want to vomit,
I'm held back by the reminder that
my gratitude for all the goodness in my life,
outweighs the anxiety caused by one Mitsubishi
