 ~REFLECTING MOMENTS~

I witnessed a tear fall today
it fell from a statues eye
this statue was of a man
he seemed to grieve

I looked to the right
there I saw a butterfly
flitting to and fro
it was a monarch
I believe

It did not have direction
it seemed lost and distant
I wanted to get closer
but I knew better
not to

I swayed to the left
there upon the ground
unkept headstones
and a caterpillar

I walked ahead
coming upon an angel
frozen in time
holding a child's hand

I wept a bit
and I do not know why
I felt an intimate moment
with this place of memory
where we come to remember

I spoke out loud
and I too whispered
to my loved ones
and to those here
that needed a living voice

It was a peaceful afternoon
the weather was comfortable
and there was a slight breeze
what joy to the weeping willow

The wind brought fragrances
of freshly cut pristine grass
and the many floral bouquets
mixed with an earlier spring rain

I visited with you today
and with strangers
I prayed a little
and cried a lot
your presence was felt
