How many times have there been these good reports
Of people saying, how their lives got turn around by sports.
As their behavior was deviant, and many have ended in crime
But this introduction to some game, came at the right time.
In sports one can be taught many a life skill lesson
One is to win, the clue it to match and better the opposition
Also develop the ability to curb some habits, that may be a problem
In the process over time acquire some discipline.
But to acquire the skills and so that inroads can be gain
It is important to make a concerted effort to train
This too may involve, strengthening of that mental powers
As this may be a very important component, in the playing hours.
In some sports the members may be always plenty
But they may have the ability to function in unity
So that team spirit, the comradeship, and of course mutual respect
Must be there if they are to have any form of prospect.
Now it has branched out and have crossed many boundaries
Because of it sportspersons have been able to visit many countries
Making friends , meeting dignitaries and building relationships
That get stronger over years, well into the era of geriatrics.
Every four year we are treated to a spectacle that is so fantastic
As we all follow the exploits of those sports-persons at the Olympics
Seeing athletes compete all sort of games as the spectator cheer
Through this avenue some may later become multimillionaire.
Now sports have become so well organize, this is no surprise
It has become to some countries a very successful enterprise
And now some have even delegated to it, a separate ministry
As it can entice people there, this may help the nation's treasury,
So let us all give out support to all forms of sports
Not only for the rivalry and the intensity it purports
But for its ability to build character and has that formula
To brighten the path, and provide a livelihood for many in another era.
