 Release the Stress
Returning to the job on Monday, completely unshackled;
Sneaking up on me at work yesterday and capturing me.
Holding me in it's joy-draining grasp for an hour or so;
Then I realized it had me; looking to release the stress.
Out of practice after a gentle five weeks of vacation;
This surprise attack shoved me off balance and pounced.
My inner light covered by this dark cloud of life's cares;
I breathe; find my center; then I release the stress.
There is nothing magical about this process of freedom;
Simple recognition, acknowledgement, then a decision.
Do I choose to continue stewing over life and its troubles;
Or to I choose to act in presence and release the stress.
I chose to release, to become completely one once again;
Stepping out in faith, feeling the chains fall to the ground.
Walking into the sunlight of peace, my light synchronizing;
Feeling once again gentle, peaceful… as I release the stress.
