Poetic Verses

Those Days

Who could remember those years before television became common
It was up to families to engage themselves in some form of recreation
Therefore with friends, at some body's house will gather
Cooking, talking playing some games, or having some laughter.

Sometimes time slipped by and this will go well into the night
The joy echoing around, this one other induces a form of delight
This also brought out something, which was positive
One got to know their friends, as a well as  their relatives.

Youngsters too with time and lots of energy in such abundance
Looked to the older people, to give them some well needed assistance
So they all will sit together, letting shoulders and ideas rub
As they readily interact talking and discussing in a social club.

This has proved to be a very good and nurturing environment
As it later turned to be an process in the stage of development
Because though it many persons, learned how to debate with such articulation
That it was no difficulty, to make that  transition,  to a politician.

There were those time when people found such pleasure
In competing against other villages, in singing and drama
Rehearsals were so intense, the director would take such great pains
Even  if it was save pride and get the opponent respect was the gains.

Also too one had to listen to the sound of the radio
Listening to things that really set the mind aglow
As the news and drama, on had to use that great imagination
Because many did not think that there will be a change in the situation.

Who would believe that people pooled money to buy a newspaper
Then many will sit as one person designated as the reader
Would sit and read aloud to a silent and very captivated audience
Who would want to know about what happening in those lands in the distance.

Those are some of the pages from  a bit of verbal history
As those older people would relate to me this story
It is most heartening to appreciate this present situation
Which one day too will be history, to another generation.
