By Nature
You were dead for failure and sin,
Eroded from corruption within;
As you followed ways of this earth,
Not knowing your spiritual worth.
The ruler of earth still works on those,
Who refuses the Lord and chose;
Not to obey our Lord God,
Worshipping with honor and laud.
All of us once lived as the same,
Followed feelings that lit the flame;
Demoralized in your nature,
With wants of a worldly creature.
Fleshy desires of the mind,
Ruled the heart as it tied the bind;
Never concerned about the path,
That God is waiting with His wrath.
May twenty first has come and gone,
Deception has hit a new dawn;
So why should we worry each day,
About trusting and to obey.
You figure that you have the time,
For going out and doing crime;
And then seeing the time is right,
You confess to enter the light.
But it is not from what you did,
That you store and put on a lid;
Rather good works with each day through,
As Christ prepared for us to do.
