Upon a land where peace is sought
Is fought a war you would have thought
Would come to end before a shot was fired
Before ones death family acquired
Yet in the search for answers here
A soldiers role would come to steer
In wars of past and present feared
Upon this earth we've learned quite clear
To those who fell to give us glory
Freedom the price, a soldiers story
Would draw outcomes bringing the peace
Ignored these facts, man thinks of least
Since time began where spear was thrown
Where arrows flew cross skies that moaned
Gods tears were shed unseen for all
Who answered call and took the fall
War became the beast in man
Oppressed this too for too the damned
Who pay with life to free enslaved
From Global tyrants instilling pain
Peace became a price so high
As too pilots would take to sky
To quell evil and put to end
These scars of war that need to mend
Global this rage as history
Became written yet mystery
Comes to choke what life was spared
Another fight now birthed will tear
The heart of mother, a fathers son
Daughter serving sparing no one
Anguish that trembles many hearts
At home, abroad these roles a part
Another son will place weapon on lap
A moment theirs. close eyes to nap
If for one minute to think today
These wars one more with life will pay
They'll breathe a sigh and tears too cry
Inhale aromas of home baked pies
Sitting before a setting Sun
Yes too daughters along with sons
These heroes born of mothers womb
The unknown soldier who sleeps in tomb
Have served each one who stops to read
My poor attempt to intercede
Keep in thought each one who left
Returning not and too who kept
Vigil for you behind the lines
That fought with valor when came their time
And if you see but one who wears
Stop and thank for you were spared
The wounds of battle, the shock of war
If just one thing, I do implore
In memory of those who served and died for me
For everyone who tired not to bring peace then
and now, a debt of gratitude is owed and all I can
say is thank you and GOD bless you daughter and too His sons
