The Tree

How often I do as I pass admire you magnificence
As I stood at your foot, dwarfed, by your presence
Watching you branched sway is such a rhythmic fashion
Following in the direction, of the wind's motion.

Reports said that you have been around for over a century
And that you have made you mark, in the pages of history
As it was recoded that it was under your comforting shade
That a treaty was signed, and an agreement was made.

It is quite noticeable, that across a lot of your bark
There are drawings, and some sayings and remarks
And an old man's with his mouth devoid of a tooth
Happily smiled as he recognized, what he wrote in his youth.

People around always look forward to the time and the hour
When the season came and you were like decorated with your flower
They all like to sniff the air all filled with your aroma
Sometimes there were many coming from out of the area.

Those aromatic and brightly co loured flowers also drew too,
A variety of bird and bees that also were attracted to you
Daily they kept coming, and it was such a procession
How cameras flashed, videos recorded, you were a major attraction.

It was how in the moonlight under you people gathered
To have talks and had discussions on anything that mattered
Some churches around you also had many an open air meeting
Hoping to reach the souls of those, considered needed saving.

Perhaps it was like some form of ritual, or an intimation
That all around were somehow steered in you direction
You have become an icon, a very precious landmark
The tree that held a special place in many a heart.
