Thankful is a Happy Heart
Today I looked up at the sky
and a tear fell from my eye.
I may be sensitive but I'm sweet
and a bit shy towards those I meet.
The sky was blue on a clear day
and the children came out to play.
bouncy balls and games of tag
laughter and sunshine in my bag.
I took the feeling for myself
and kept the memory on the shelf.
I wrote in my journal while out there
where many smiles showed me care.
By the time the night was dark
all those around had left a mark.
happiness filled my inner being
and there was no bad I was seeing.
I went inside to get ready for bed
and every good thought filled my head.
with thanks I said a heartfelt prayer
for everyone who had been there.
The people showed me love can exist
in times of trial it can't be missed.
The kindness of a smile can spread
and not a word has to be said.
Hate was gone and fights were nil
and a good feeling was felt there still.
in the heart happiness has place
and the feeling went from face to face.
It becomes a blessing and a gift
when others give the spirit a lift.
If you are struck in a negative way
change the feeling and have a good day.
