Once a man lived in Greece
Told of logic and taught us truth
Lit a lamp, the lamp of knowledge
Held head high, among his race.
Arrogant them for aristocrats they
"Tolerate not," blasted in anger
Dreaded were they for their thrones were shaken
Socrates was calm, calm as the moon.
Deceivers plotted, Hemlock was the reward
Venerable master, gulped it as nectar
Smiled as an infant, filled with sarcasm
Pitied for the ignoramuses and turned breathless!
Once a man lived in Israel
Told us to love and taught us to suffer
Foiled the sinners, forgave the foes;
Squeezed out the woes, made them relieved.
Malicious them for crooked saints they
"Let not him spare," thundered the impostors
Restless were they for their beliefs were shattered
The Jesus was calm, calm like a sheep.
Swindled him for coins, Cross was the reward
Fearless Shepherd, shouldered the torments
Walked like a lamp with unbounded love
Prayed for the sinners while hung on the cross!
Once a man lived in India
Told of patience and taught us tolerance
Flamed the spirit, the spirit of Freedom
Non-violence was the weapon, fought for the toiled.
Jealous were them for fanatics were they
"Shoot him down," shouted in revenge
Frightened were they for their masks were torn
The Gandhi was cool, cool as the dew.
The traitors conspired, bullet was the reward
Courageous saint, sacrificed his life
Moved like a Prophet, poured out his love
Blessed the assassin while the heart was pierced!
Treacherous creatures, keep the hoods up
Spit the venom on time to slay the victims down
Bite the hands that feed, tear the hearts that love
Make them martyrs and canonize later!
