I looked for love and did not find
I was looking for love to remove the nightmares from my mind
I needed a distraction, something that would cause a positive reaction, but
my heart was in such a rage, cause I couldn't find my way out that dark cage
For too long I was engaged to filthy lies, and the real me,
I was forced to keep hidden deep inside.
I locked the door on precious life, I didn't care if I lived or died.
I broke all the sacred rules, drunk and danced like an irresponsible fool
Nothing mattered but lust and its inviting lies. I was trained from a babe to always let men
come inside. For it was a man's right to leave his scars upon my flesh.
I was to be submissive, his possession, and what ever he did I must never confess.
I must always be a doormat and welcome his feet.... to stand still
and let him wipe all of his pain over me
And the only time I could rest, is when he gave me the permission to sleep....
finally I could smile.... cause it was in my dreams where I could be free.......
free to be the real me...
