'Balance'

Balance again, has been reached
That pivotal place in time,
Where daylight teases dark to come
To plunge us into night.

This day is long, the longest yet
Throughout the entire year,
And daylight holds itself in place
To light the path which keeps us safe.

Oh what wonders it beholds within the length of daylight,
Yet each golden moment ticks away to move us close to nightlight,
For that is what the Solstice brings; balance, now before us,
Until the month of twelve appears and with it number twenty one.

Daylight wanes more every day although it's hard to notice,
But as we move through summer days we see the change before us,
The light grows less, the hues grow dim, the days of growth are over,
And we prepare ourselves again until the dark engulfs us.

~ Summer Solstice, the longest day, the brightest Sun,
the beginning of the growing end of Mother Earth's continuous
cycle. Days will silently, but ever definitely grow less in
daylight until the balance of Winter Solstice changes it back.
We marvel at the wonderment of long, hazy summer days, never
thinking how each passing moment brings us ever closer to growing
darkness. Savour them like you would a fine wine, and celebrate
their luscious flavour. ~ R.B.
