 Retirement...
You waltzed through the door
at the end of the day...

Tossed all your lists
and deadlines away...

I got you a coffee
and slices of cake...

Smiled as you sipped
in the afternoon - late...

You grinned for tomorrow
and lazy sleep ins...

Lunches in sunshine
and afternoon spins...

The clock ticked behind us -
the fridge gently purred...

The fish dashed and darted -
joined songs with the birds...

You sank in the sofa -
relaxed in the view...

Turned up the volume
and heard a new tune...

Joy Weare,
29th June, 2011.
