Grills will burn and cook a feast
Of great proportions, in summer heat
Where charcoal Amber's and propane glows
Summon both novice and too the pros
Smoke shall rise from yards around
Signal all cooks as beers they pound
To don aprons some reading chef
As crossed are fingers family and guests
Too high the heat and things will roast
Too slow to serve too many toasts
Will all take part as appetites
Are stirred to frenzy from noon till night
Hot dogs seared to sheer perfection
Burgers with cheese, a few selections
Also T-bones where fare affords
Joined by seafood of shrimp and sword
Don't touch the grill where sacred place
Is all but ones or wrath you'll face
For only cooks have right of way
A passage theirs, title of day
and as the day gives way to night
A feast for eyes will soon take flight
Where rockets bursts and colors spill
Amongst buttoned things that had their fill
