Elders of long ago said "it's made in the shade"
I've always wondered what had been made
From childhood you see, it's puzzled me
A thing in the shade, but where would it be

I looked for the longest in shady places
Looking for things in hidden spaces
The unknown gadgets made long ago
But I had no luck and I still don't know

Then comes the ladder; you've heard the tale
You can't walk under it lest there's a spell
But under that ladder is a shady spot
Maybe that's the place, or maybe not

I'll just keep looking in the shade
For the priceless things my elders made
It must have kept them very busy
But as for me, I'm mostly dizzy
Hunting for things ..... "made in the shade"
