This Step
During this long journey of life;
Mile after mile, day after day…
When it comes down to reality;
Only this step I am taking matters.
The steps taken throughout my past
Are now only a fading memory.
The path before me is unknown;
Only this step I am taking matters.
Presence adds the quality of spirit;
Destiny will control all that is to come.
God walks with me when I yield;
Only this step I am taking matters.
Awareness is brought with attention;
The channel to creativity is now open.
Something new is born in this moment;
Only this step I am taking matters.
What I am doing, where I am going
Is my secondary purpose in this life.
My primary purpose is being present;
Only this step I am taking matters.
Attention to the moment creates space;
An opening for God's energy to flow.
Not attempting to understand in my mind;
Only this step I am taking matters.
