 294. “Hey Man”
(a spiritual counter point to “Hey Love”)

Hey man
I know
You've been
Scrubbin' your
Forehead trying
To get those
Evil words
Off your
Skin…
“Nice Guy.”

Some girl
In high school
You fell
In love

With uttered
The curse
And you've
Been stuck
With it
Ever since.

I know you
Wish you
Could be the
Kind of “bad”
That gets
The girls…
But it seems
Too long
To wait
For girls
To become
The women
Who learn
To appreciate
“a nice guy.”

In the end
Though
You didn't
Want you heart
Broken by some
Heartless… person…
So you could be the same

In the long run
Nice guys
Always win,
And some girl
Regrets those
Bad boy choices
That would have
Been better
If it were
You.
