Trying to Keep the Word
Teach me the ways O Lord,
How to live by Your Laws;
Let not You be ignored,
For cancelling my flaws.
I obey to the end,
Each decreed commandment;
And wisdom that you send,
By what each one is meant.
I guard them with my heart,
Never to get away;
For each chance I do impart,
So I trust and obey.
You help me understand,
To what I have been taught;
And lend a helping hand,
For all that I have sought.
Lead me down on the path,
I am happy with them;
They save me from the wrath,
That some you will condemn.
Direct my heart towards You,
Rather than all the greed;
Since you show what to do,
Providing what I need
Keep me from worthless things,
So my eyes cannot see;
For the pleasure it brings,
Is just temporary.
So give me a new life,
Giving hope and promise;
Away from all the strife,
Where I can be righteous.
