Beautiful Disaster

Walmart Adventures

A gallon of apple juice in each hand
Standing in line at Wal-Mart, on a Friday night
Not enough money for bendy straws.

Classmates in the adjacent lines
With case upon case of Bud Light
Talking about how drunk they'll get

Walking out to the car, with too many bags
Stops to stare up at a star that is shining bright
Not seeing the car, trying to back out

Hurrying along, I muse over my plans
Humming Mary Poppin's “Let's Go Fly A Kite”
Trying to decide which movie I'll watch

Climbing into the car, bags on the floor
Patiently waiting, unwilling to fight
To exit Wal-mart's parking lot
