 Pages Of A Woman's Soul

APRIL SHOWERS Pictures, Images and Photos

"Into each life
some rain must fall."
How well I remember
my grandmother's words
spoken to me after a
skinned knee or some
such catastrophe
of youth.
Embracing that thought now
gives comfort on days like this;
ones in which looking back
can elicit deep pain
and overwhelming
sorrow if one
allows it.
Knowing that no one escapes,
no one skates through
the act of living
unscathed is somehow
calming though,
soothing to
my spirit.

"But why does it
have to be that way?"

Always my question
and always the same answer…

"Now where would the
world be without rain, child?"

Pondering that was a pastime
from then on, pushing me
to play with the possibilities
of such a thing;
a purposeful
til now…

Now with my face upturned
to the sky the feel of
the gentle rainfall
caressing my eyes,
my lips, my skin,
it gives the only
response there
really is

Without a little worry now
and again, how would we
know what peace was;
without a little rain
how would we come
to appreciate the
sun when it deigns
to shine again?

With that I hear her voice,
see her smile and nod as she says,

"Now you're getting it."

Thanks Gram, now, I do!
