Walking by the River

It was a very pleasant arrangement
They would meet each week for a walk
Normally stroll along the river bank
Enjoying the company and the talk
Perhaps a certain tension
Certainly a little flirting
The man to woman chat
Both found so diverting

If she wanted sex she would invite
Him to her home and into her bed
But if she wasn't interested they
Would go to a riverside pub instead
Where they would a drink a coffee
And when they left the bar
She would give him satisfaction
As they both sat there in his car
Sometimes she would join him
Excited by his pleasure
Excited by her skill
At taking his measure

Both perhaps a little titillated
By the prospect of being caught
But they parked so very carefully
Realistically that risk was naught
It was never love making but rather
Just a means to a satisfactory end
It was an arrangement of convenience
Between two very old and good friends
