SHAKESPEARE FALLEN – FINALITY
So proud was he of his intellect
His talent knew no end
But it became his sheer conceit
That drove away all of his friends
So next he turned his barbs on her
Her demeanor he disdained
Stealing her self worth away
Until only a shell remained
She'd been the one to care for things
He didn't give her a thought
And when she left he didn't know
The damage his words had wrought
Until the day the sheriff arrived
To evict him from their house
You see she'd tired of his abuse
And playing the dutiful spouse
Before she fled she'd done one thing
He hadn't suspected her yet
But she ruined him financially
A move she would never regret
She'd left a note informing him
Her devotion had turned to hate
Now it was time to save herself
Before madness became her fate
Out on the street his way with words
Kept his throat from being slit
And over time he realized
What a mess he'd made of it
Most days he wanders aimlessly
Recounting his life from before
But these days no one really cares
About a washed up troubadour
So, guard your thoughts you men of words
Your actions then habits will be
Then habits become your character
Which will guide your destiny…
