Cracker Barrel kind of Day
On my mind the trek to where
Becomes the path that my heart wears
Each passing day since last I came
To be where I am not the same
The price to see Blue eyes across
The other side of table lost
I sat and sit still mesmerized
Closing my eyes with you inside
The smile that still keeps company
Broadened much hope inside of me
Of better days in just sharing
This mindset mine today daring
I held your hand and stared till time
Became of us to sip and dine
On fine fare where appetite
Still keeps hungry this man at night
Hungry for a moment yours
If just one look in me nurtures
A heart that ran empty this day
A need to eat again I'd say
I miss the atmosphere we shared
Breaking of bread and everywhere
You showed me when I came to town
If just once more I'd stick around
You see my dear though some things change
I still keep you where thoughts arrange
Table for two where I just sit
Waiting for dinner with my heart lit
