OH, WOEFUL MAN
**Author's Note: This is meant to be a simple, sing-songing rhyme expressing the sadness of so many who spend life engaged in self pity and woefulness, boxing themselves in with negativity when life is abundant and beautiful, even at its most difficult!
There was a man
So full of woe,
He didn't quite
Know where to go
He moved through life
In starts and fits
Not knowing what
To make of it
He railed against
This bitter plight
Not turning to
The left or right
But straight ahead
He always went
In pained regret
His days he spent
His mind was black
With cold resign
A shred of hope
He could not find
Despite what good
Life offered up
He only saw
An empty cup
A bitter pill
Was all he ate
Tho' grace gave him
Abundance great
Yet to this day
He does bemoan
The fact that he
Is quite alone
But who will have
A man of woe
When others have
That gladsome glow
So on and on
In mis'ry great
forevermore
His dreadful fate!
